Hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane by copper(II) salt hydrates
2019/6/16
Hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane by water catalyzed by small amounts of hydrated copper(II) chloride, copper(II) nitrate and copper(II) perchlorate in ethanol was investigated using 29Si NMR. The results showed significantly faster hydrolysis in the system catalyzed by the perchlorate. One reason for the difference is the variation in acidity of copper salts in alcohol.
